The Challenge
Create an interactive story using Figma about a story or topic that is interesting to you. Make sure your story is interactive, user friendly, and that all design choices are intentional.
The Design
For this project, I was inspired by New York City, which is where I am from and I wanted to highlight the pizza culture in the city. For years, I have seen tourist lined up around the block for pizza and I have always wondered about the connection between pizza and NYC tourist. So, I wanted my interactive story to first highlight the history of pizza in NYC and its growth overtime in the city. Then, I talk about tourist part in the pizza culture and how social media has had an impact on the amount of tourist that come to these pizza places.
For the design of the story, I wanted to use colors that were warm and that reminded people of a an old school pizzeria in NYC. I also wanted it to be easy to use and to understand, so that anybody could get through the story. Once the reader goes through the home page, they are lead to the main article that includes pictures of actual pizza places in NYC. Then midway through the article, I created a pizza pie graph that shows some statistics about food tourism in NYC. I wanted my graph to have a fun element in it and I wanted to to relate to my article topic. So, when the reader drags their mouse of the pizza graph, the statistic precent slides out of the pie like a slice of pizza. I also included two subway buttons at the end of the article, that lead the reader to the top of the article or to the next page of the website. The subway buttons were a way for me to keep the design of the article fun but also stay on theme of the article.
The last page of the article give the readers three of the most popular pizza places in NYC. Those places are: Joe's Pizza, Lucali's, and John's Pizza of Bleecker Street. On the page, I included a picture of the restaurant and then there is a drop down underneath the photo that has the address and a quick description of the restaurant. I also want to note that I big part of the project was learned to work with AI, so AI helped me write the article and develop some of the images in the website.
